What Gets Delegated, What Stays Human

I keep a rough mental line, and I keep adjusting it.

Delegate more:
  • Prep work.
  • Research synthesis.
  • Comparison documents.
  • Formatting across specs.
  • Routing and status updates.
  • Asset organization.
  • Metadata.
  • Repetitive administrative tasks.
  • Draft assembly for documents and decks.
  • Structured research.
  • Deliverable prep.
  • Schedule formatting.
  • Recap generation.
  • Version tracking.
Keep human:
  • Taste.
  • Story.
  • Emotional calibration.
  • Relationship judgment.
  • Authorship.
  • Sensitive communication.
  • Final approvals.
  • Ethical boundaries.
  • Risk assessment.
  • The decision about what the work means.
  • Whether a project should exist.
  • Whether a scene is working.
  • Whether a client relationship is healthy.
  • Whether a team member needs support.

I am not naive about the pressure to move it further than we should let it go — to delegate the judgment because it is cheaper

The work will know.

And over time, the audience will know too, even if they cannot articulate why.

The future is not automation versus humanity.

It is intentional delegation versus abandonment.

The first requires more thought, more clarity, standards.

The second is lazy.

And it shows.
